Why it’s Important to Teach our Children God’s Word a Home

Why is it so important to teach our children about the bible at a young age? Isn’t Sunday school or Wednesday night’s children’s church enough? Eventually they will grow old enough that they can start reading the bible on their own, right? I wish that I could answer yes to these questions, but the truth is the answer is no to all of them. As parents, it is our job to make sure our children are learning, growing and understanding life, especially the bible, because growing closer to God should be at the center of all of our lives. Throughout the bible we are commanded to teach our children the…

Why is Wisdom a Woman? And Where does Christ fit in?

In Proverbs, King Solomon refers to Wisdom as a woman. But why? Was wisdom actually a created person , or was it some other being? The short answer to this is no. But there was a purpose to Solomon calling wisdom a woman and who/what wisdom represented for the future. I recently had a wonderful friend bring this thought up to me and once I started to read more into it, I saw just how beautiful this scripture was. We see metaphors and pictures throughout all of Proverbs to help better understand the point Solomon was trying to get across. Solomon wrote a good bit of Proverbs, he was the…

    Having a Friend named Jesus!

I’m sure you have heard the hymn often played in churches all over and radio stations… “What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry, Everything to God in prayer!” I’ve been singing this song to my kids a lot lately, and looking closer to the words, made me really ponder what this song is really saying. Listen to this recording I made of this song… I did the first and last part of this song without any instruments because I wanted each word to be heard without any distraction. Feel free to look up the entire song, the words…

Faith Strong Enough for the Unthinkable

In several places in the bible God has been faithful and never went back on his word, he is all knowing, all powerful and his love is unconditional. Jesus died for us! Have you thought about how significant that is? Is your faith strong enough to do that? Could you die for God? Could you sacrifice your own child for God? Don’t be quick to answer that question! That’s a deep and important question to really think about. Picture it in your mind…. some evil man comes up to you with a gun and tells you to deny Christ or he will shoot you. Let’s say you bravely so no,…

Finding God’s Strength in Grief’s Pain

As I lay here, dealing with the usual cramping pain that most women deal with every month, I am reminded of loss. That seems like such a strange statement to those who don’t know me well; but let me explain a little more. First, let me define the word loss. Loss: The state or feeling of grief when deprived of someone or something of value. Someone or something of value….. I’m sure many people reading this have experienced loss, unfortunately it’s a part of all life. Grandparents, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles and even children have been grieved by many. And every time there is a loss there is a crowd of people…

    Praise The Lord: Psalm 150

Did you know that the Hebrew word Halal is used in the Bible 165 times? According to www.biblestudytool.com, the word Halal means to praise, boast , be boastful. Knowing the God we have I can understand why in the short chapter of Psalm 150 Halal was used 13 times. Psalm 150 is a Psalm filled with praise in the Lord. Psalm 150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: Praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his might acts:praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the…

I Want to Pray like Nehemiah!

I want to pray like Nehemiah! He prayed always, in every decision and before he would even speak, Nehemiah would lift a prayer up to God. I recently did a bible study on the book of Nehemiah called Arise: a study on the book of Nehemiah by Kristin Schmucker with the Daily Grace Co. In this study I was in awe of Nehemiah and his faithfulness to prayer. The whole first chapter of the book of Nehemiah is a prayer to God and then in Nehemiah 2:1-5, Nehemiah had a heavy burden laying on his heart to fix and rebuild the wall and gates in Judah, King Artaxerxes could see…

    Fried Red Tomatoes

As we get closer to growing season I thought I would post a super delicious recipe to use with those amazing tomatoes you will be growing this year! I love tomatoes in pretty much everything, but I don’t actually like tomatoes by themselves. I know I’m such a weirdo! lol! So instead of doing what a lot of farmers do with a raw tomato and just slice it up and eat it plain or with some salt, I decided to fry mine up! O….M….G…. let me tell you they were delicious and are probably now my new favorite thing, Though I’m sure they are not as good for you! Try…

    What is a Biblical Husband?

The portrait of a husband has been altered through the ages. Men used to be the head of the household and now they are no longer being held to the standard they were supposed to be. Women are now taking on the role of husbands and fathers instead. This is, a lot of times, where the family unit falls apart. God holds family to high standards, family is the earthly portrait of the relationship between God, Jesus and us as his children. The husband is the image of God, and without God, the whole world is worth nothing and everything begins to fall apart. We need God in our lives…
